Counselling

Hello and Welcome!

I have an MA in Counselling Psychology and am a Registered Clinical Counsellor (#3475). I work in private practice in Vancouver and am currently accepting new clients. Beginning September 19th I will be co-facilitating a unique and fun class combining mindfulness, personal growth, movement and social change.

My approach
I seek to create a safe and supportive environment from which we can explore. Ultimately I wish to support you in creating a more fulfilling, peaceful, and joyful life.  I aim to empower you, teaching you skills to make your life work better for you, rather than make you dependent on me as a therapist.  I am committed to your goals and finding counselling approaches that suit you.

Concerns that I welcome include:
~ Stress/Anxiety
~ Depression
~ Addictions
~ Spirituality/Purpose
~ Loss and grief
~ Relationships

Techniques I draw on include:
~ Cognitive Behavioural
~ Solution-oriented
~ Narrative
~ Hakomi
~ Family Systems

Although I can and do draw on a range of therapies, what informs my approach instinctively is a body-centred orientation and the use of mindfulness. Although this is talk therapy, I believe that therapy is more effective as an embodied experience.  So I encourage present-moment experience and body-awareness to the extent that it serves you. We can also use your inner images that arise during the sessions, as well your bodily sensations. This is very creative and can lead to art work and movement.

I believe therapy can actually be fun, expansive, and engaging.

To discuss any of these ideas, and how I might help you, please get in touch!

About being a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC)
Being an RCC means that I am a member of the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors.  As such I am held accountable to my clients through the BCACC’s code of ethics, its standards of practice and its complaints, investigation and disciplinary procedures.  Being an RCC also means I have met the requirements for academic training, clinical experience and supervision, and that I commit to ongoing professional development.
